Letter from the Publisher
Hello, I’m Lynn
I’m a registered clinical counsellor and social worker, born in Trail, and I now live in the beautiful Creston Valley. My journey has been anything but smooth—driving trucks since I was 16, my 1969 Ford Truck symbolizes the rugged Kootenay backroads, rough terrain, and winter storms I navigated to help my clients in need. The rocky roads I travelled reflect the challenges I faced as a single mom pursuing a 25-year career in counselling and social work.
On those winding roads, I discovered something profound: the power of community. Whether online or in person, my experiences in counselling and coaching have shown me that group wisdom can change lives. It is in community where we find strength, support, and the inspiration to overcome even the toughest challenges.
Today, shifts in our economy and culture have pulled us apart. We are working remotely, juggling more with less, and missing out on vital opportunities for connection. Our workloads and the demands of motherhood often leave little room for connecting with ourselves, let alone with others.
But here's the truth: we've always had what we needed—each other.
Witnessing the transformative power of community has inspired me to invest in Kootenay Women. Entrepreneurs create value and jobs in our region, especially when they empower and support one another. This is the driving force behind Kootenay Women in Business.
If you have an idea for an article for Kootenay Women in Business Magazine, I would love to hear from you. Together, we can continue to build and strengthen this incredible community.
Warm regards,
Lynn Hiscoe
